The key distinction between HRB335 and HRB400 lies in their yield strength standards, which correspond to the load-bearing needs of different building structures—this is the core embodiment of their “high-strength” attribute:


  • HRB335 Grade Rebars: With a minimum yield strength of 335 MPa and minimum tensile strength of 490 MPa, they fall into the medium-high strength category. Ideal for structures with moderate loads, such as floor slabs, secondary beams, and non-load-bearing wall reinforcement in ordinary residential buildings, or rural infrastructure (small bridges, culverts). They balance performance and cost in scenarios where extreme strength is not required.

  • HRB400 Grade Rebars: Boasting a minimum yield strength of 400 MPa and minimum tensile strength of 570 MPa, this grade is the “mainstream choice” in current construction projects. Its higher strength and superior seismic performance make it widely used in core load-bearing components, including:

    • Frame columns, main beams, basement floor slabs, and long-span floor slabs in high-rise buildings;

    • Municipal engineering structures (urban bridges, subway retaining structures).
      Compared to HRB335, HRB400 reduces rebar usage by 15–20% while lowering the overall structural weight—an important factor in optimizing project costs.

  • Stable Mechanical Performance: Both grades are produced via hot rolling, resulting in a uniform metallographic structure. They meet ductility requirements (elongation ≥16% for HRB335, ≥15% for HRB400), enabling them to absorb energy through controlled deformation during sudden events (e.g., earthquakes, load impacts) and avoid brittle structural failure. This complies with the basic seismic rebar requirements in China’s Code for Design of Concrete Structures.
