Product Description


(1) Balanced Corrosion Resistance for Routine Environments

  • Fundamental Protection Mechanism: Forms a dense, self-healing chromium oxide film on the surface, effectively resisting:

    • Neutral media (tap water, groundwater, air moisture).

    • Mild organic acids (vinegar, fruit juices) and alkalis (detergents, dilute sodium hydroxide).

    • Low-chloride environments (e.g., indoor plumbing, non-coastal architectural parts).

  • Limitations: Not suitable for high-chloride scenarios (seawater, road de-icing salts) or strong acids (hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid), as chloride ions can break down the oxide film and cause pitting corrosion.

(2) Excellent Mechanical Properties for Structural & Fluid Applications

  • Strength & Ductility:

    • Tensile strength: 515–690 MPa; Yield strength: ≥205 MPa; Elongation: ≥40%.

    • Enables it to withstand internal pressure (e.g., low-pressure water/gas pipelines) and external loads (e.g., handrails, support frames) without deformation or cracking.

  • Temperature Adaptability:

    • Operates reliably from -196°C (-321°F) (cryogenic storage) to 800°C (1472°F) (low-temperature industrial ovens).

    • Avoids brittle failure at low temperatures and maintains stability in moderate heat (not recommended for continuous use above 800°C, as chromium carbide precipitation may reduce corrosion resistance).

(3) Cost-Effective & Widely Available

  • As a standard grade, 304 round tubes are mass-produced, with a wide range of sizes (common outer diameters: 6mm–300mm, wall thicknesses: 0.5mm–10mm) and surface finishes (2B mill finish, BA bright finish, brushed finish).

  • Lower cost compared to premium grades (e.g., 904L, 316L), making it ideal for budget-sensitive projects where extreme corrosion resistance is not required.
